Government passes Jobs Bill
The Federal Government’s Australian Jobs Bill has cleared the House of Representatives earlier last week, clearing the next hurdle to delivering $500 million worth of funding
Minister for Industry and Innovation, Greg Combet, said that the Australian Jobs Bill will deliver assistance to local businesses by helping them win more work on major investment projects, including mining and infrastructure works.
The Bill will also establish the new Australian Industry Participation Authority to administer AIP plans and other programs to improve industry capability and open up global supply chain opportunities to local firms.
Analysis by the Industry and Innovation Department estimates that these changes would deliver Australian firms between $1.6 billion and $6.4 billion of extra work every year.
