No oversize trucks will be allowed to travel up the Toowoomba range for part of this month.

A ban has been imposed on trucks travelling up Queensland’s Toowoomba range for much of July due to reconstruction works on the route.

The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads says it will have single-lane closures in place from 9am on July 19 to 5am on July 21 for asphalting, sealing and line marking work.

The Department wants heavy vehicles up to 19 metres with a gross mass up to 42.5 tonnes to use the Murphys Creek Road alternative route in order to avoid delays from the roadworks.

“No over-size or over-mass vehicles will be permitted on the up lanes of the Toowoomba Range during this period,” a statement from the department says.

“Heavy vehicles with a ground contact width up to 2.5m and overall width up to 3.5m will be able to use the up lanes.”

Transport and Main Roads says the closures will affect left and right lanes at different times between July 19 and July 21.
