The team ensures our rail network operates smoothly across various systems and regions, helping to create a standardised operating environment. This helps increase efficiencies for rail operators, making our network more reliable and cost-effective.

About the Opportunity

Support the Senior Environment Business Partner – Operations as a member of the environmental business partnering team for ARTC’s operations. Provide expert services and assurance for the effective implementation of ARTC’s environmental management system for ARTC operations, maintenance and project activities. The aim is to enhance environmental outcomes, reduce operational risk and ensure compliance with ARTC policies and regulations.

The role is crucial in fostering a culture of environmental stewardship across the business, driving performance outcomes and aligning initiatives with the broader business strategy.

  • Act as a trusted business partner for the safety and systems business unit, offering oversight and support on operational environmental matters.
  • Ensure effective implementation of ARTC’s environmental management system.
  • Provide advice on best practice environmental management and compliance during the delivery of rail infrastructure projects and operational work/activities.
  • Review and provide advice on fit for purpose environmental assessments and license/permit expectations.
  • Assist with environmental inspections, training, incident/event investigation and compliance tracking/reporting.

About You

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to build relationships with external parties such as regulators and drive performance improvement with outsourced delivery partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and deliver programs to reduce environmental impact (primarily waste and emissions).
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in the implementation of environmental management systems and assessment processes.
  • High level knowledge of emerging trends, key benchmarks, statutory and regulatory requirements to inform best practice and value management outcomes.
  • Ability to travel intrastate and interstate (class C driving licence required).
