The Role

DASA is seeking an experienced individual to join the Initial Airworthiness Regulation and Promotion (IARP) section – a small team of engineering and technical professionals, whose role is to develop and promote initial airworthiness policy to enhance the safety of military aviation.

You will support the Defence aviation community to understand requirements related to the design, production, and certification of Defence aircraft.

This includes:

  • Maturing the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR);
  • Researching military and civilian aviation safety frameworks and practices;
  • Proposing policy options to address safety hazards;
  • Responding to queries from key stakeholders; and
  • Delivering training material and developing educational resources.

Dependent on skills, qualifications and experience, there may be opportunity to seek an Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA).  An IFA allows Defence to provide additional remuneration to the base salary and/or the variation of other conditions provided for in the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA). Our Ideal Candidate
DASA is looking for a motivated engineering professional who is able to utilise their expertise to implement practical aviation safety policy.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A detailed understanding of contemporary requirements related to the design, production and certification of aircraft;
  • Experience working for a regulator/safety authority, or within the aviation industry;
  • Critical thinking skills to research and analyse aviation safety frameworks;
  • An ability to identify policy issues and make recommendations to improve aviation safety;
  • The ability to work within an integrated workforce and proactively engage with key stakeholders; and
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to develop policy and deliver promotional material to the regulated community.
